Step 2: Heat Your Water to 200°F
Set your kettle to 200°F (93°C). No temperature control? Boil water, let it sit off heat for 30-45 seconds. That drops it into the sweet spot.
Above 205°F and you’re burning the coffee. Below 195°F and extraction stalls – sour, thin, disappointing.
Step 3: The Bloom (Don’t Skip This)
Add ground coffee to the empty press. Set it on your scale, tare, and pour just enough water to saturate all grounds – about twice the coffee weight. For 60 grams: 120 grams of water.

Why Hoffmann’s Technique Works

How to Clean Your French Press
